What are the responsibilities and job description for the Legal Secretary - Adult Probation (Dewey) position at Yavapai County Government?
Under general supervision, performs paraprofessional work of moderate difficulty in a variety of legal secretarial and office duties specific to the assigned department.
- Formats and types letters, memoranda, and various legal documents from copy and rough draft. Files appropriate documents with the court and obtains hearing dates. Files documents with the appropriate court.
- Assists clients, courts, and general-public telephonically and/or in person.
- Processes, copies, and logs incoming documents.
- Provides disclosure information to attorneys.
- Opens new files and prepares initial legal documents.
- Maintains calendars for attorneys.
- Copies and faxes documents for the office. Purchases supplies and coordinates activities relative to office functions such as maintenance issues, obtaining vehicle services, and the like.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
A minimum of two (2) years of general office, legal secretary, and/or administrative support experience.
Additional Requirements:
Must possess a valid Arizona driver’s license.

The work environment is associated with an office. The work area is adequately lighted, heated or cooled and ventilated.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time. Sufficient vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech ability to communicate effective in-person and telephonically. Capable of frequent repetitive movement of arms, fingers, and wrists. Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
