Thrift Store Manager

Under the direction of the YHS Deputy Director – Support Services, the Thrift Store Manager will be responsible for overseeing retail activities at the Thrift Store.

Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree preferably in Business with at least five years’ experience in retail operations management. Must be able to demonstrate increasing responsibility in a retail environment from previous work experience. Retail experience in a Thrift Store is preferred. Required skills are: A highly developed level of interpersonal, communication, written and organizational skills; must have excellent customer service skills; ability to direct, guide, train, and work harmoniously with staff and volunteers; comprehensive computer skills including ability to operate Square, Excel, Word, and Outlook. Personal qualities: An energetic, friendly, and collaborative business style; excellent attention to detail and be knowledgeable in merchandising and marketing; able to work a full-time schedule and be flexible; ability to become familiar with and promote the YHS mission, vision, and values; must maintain a valid Arizona Driver’s License.

Essential Functions

• Work closely with the Deputy Director to support the mission and values of YHS through the operations of the Thrift Store.
• Responsible for the efficient and profitable operation of the Thrift Store.
• Manage the scheduling of all aspects of the Thrift Store, from staff hours to pick-up times of donations to delivery of products sold.
• Direct and monitor the daily register opening and closing procedures.
• Monitor all monetary transactions to make sure they are recorded and properly documented.
• Manage Thrift Store maintenance issues.
• Monitor and adhere to the Thrift Store’s annual budget.
• Oversee inventory, repairs, organization and set up of merchandise.
• Ensure that excellent service is being provided by staff and volunteers to the Thrift Store clients.
• Coordinate attractive and seasonally appropriate sales floor displays.
• Oversee exterior aesthetics, such as signage and sidewalk appeal.
• Provide conflict resolution for staff and clients.
• Prioritize, coordinate and monitor workflow among the staff and volunteers as applicable.
• Ensures revenue and expenses are handled in accordance with YHS financial policies and donor recognition and acknowledgement standards.
• Enforces YHS Human Resource policies and procedures with staff and volunteers.
• Oversees merchandise pricing, instructions, and guidelines to ensure consistency and nonprofit stewardship.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Deputy Director – Support Services.

Critical Demands

This position has occasional contact with other department supervisors and staff but works predominantly with the public. This position requires a lot of standing, up to 5 hours at a time, and walking, frequent crouching or stooping, kneeling, reaching, and bending. This position also requires some driving. The person in this position must be able to lift and carry, pull, or push 50 pounds unassisted. This position handles a high volume of clients and is exposed to noise, hot and cold conditions.

The Thrift Store is Open Tuesday- Saturday

Work hours are typically 8:30 am - 4:30 pm
