Description
Yeh and Associates, Inc., Engineering Services Department is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Project Manager to support our growing Colorado Western Slope Offices located in Grand Junction, Glenwood Springs, and Durango. Western slope offices offer a variety of engineering projects in a small city environment ideal for the outdoor enthusiast.
The Senior Geotechnical Project Manager will supervisor and monitor all projects in progress, ensure work is executed on time in accordance with client requirements. Supervisor staff, including training, development, and performance review, utilization, safety oversight, quality of service and work product, and timely delivery of service and deliverables. Plan for and participate in business development activities to identify, develop, win, and execute project opportunities, build and maintain client relationships..
Qualifications Required:
- Valid Professional Engineering registration (required).
- Extensive experience in Transportation Sector projects.
- Bachelor’s and master’s degree in Geotechnical or Civil Engineering.
- 15-20 years of previous professional experience in geotechnical engineering; significant Project Management experience, including proposal preparation and budgeting; thorough knowledge of state and federal regulations; proven business development skills.
- Extensive geotechnical background including a strong fundamental knowledge of principles of geotechnical or geostructural engineering, soil and rock mechanics, and groundwater hydrology as they apply to both design and construction.
- Recognized for technical excellence and development of client-focused, creative, and practical solutions.
- Self-motivated, with strong technical problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional verbal and communication skills, able to relate engineering recommendations to a variety of clients with confidence. Communicate well with the construction team on a jobsite.
- Geotechnical design experience required. Experience in roadway design, airport design, deep foundations (drilled shafts, driven piles, micropiles) and shallow foundation design options (slabs on grade, mat slabs, PT slabs), soil nail wall, mechanically stabilized earth MSE walls, landslide mitigation and rock slope design preferred.
- Strong willingness to help develop business.
- Positive attitude and an ability to work well in a team environment.
- Experience with MathCAD, Slide, MSEW, RSPile, LPILE, Settle3, other technical programs, and Microsoft applications
- In depth knowledge and experience with a wide range of site investigation methods and sampling techniques including geophysical methods, traditional soil borings and test pit excavations, cone penetrometer testing and percolation testing.
Requirements
- Follow safety rules, guidelines, and standards for all projects. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
- Act as project manager and design lead, responsible for developing plans, sections, details and calculations
- Evaluate subsurface data and perform engineering analyses to include bearing capacity and settlement for shallow foundations; axial/lateral capacity and settlement for deep foundations; cut and fill slope stability, rockfall hazard analysis, seepage through and under embankments, and flexible and rigid pavement design.
- Prepare geotechnical reports, addenda, and supplemental letters in a cost-efficient manner.
- Actively support business development with frequent client contact and outreach to new and existing clients;
- Prepare cost estimate proposals for engineering projects including developing a scope of work
- Manage projects and supervise an engineering team, responsible for budgets and deliverables to clients including summary reports, recommendations, and post report consultations during construction.
- Review geotechnical analyses and reports by junior engineers.
- Maintain quality standards on all project deliverables.
- Develop plans, schedules, conducts, and/or coordinates detailed phases of assigned project work.
- Serve as a technical adviser to junior engineers and reviewer to other project team members.
- Interact with client and project team in developing scope of services and communicating project progress.
- This position has a field component; some overnight travel is required.
