Elementary School Social Worker

Job Description
YES Community Counseling Center is hiring for our School Social Work Program. This program is through a successful partnership between YES and the Massapequa School District. We are seeking a Master's level social worker to provide social work services under the supervision of YES Community Counseling Center within a Massapequa Elementary school. This school social worker will be supervised directly by YES Community Counseling Center. All staff are provided with weekly individual supervision at their school placement site and group supervision weekly on Monday mornings.

Responsibilities

• Individual and group support services provided on a short-term basis to students with emotional or environmental issues that are impacting upon academic or social performance within the school building.
• Identify issues that exist, assess needs, and provide an appropriate referral to the student and family.
• Facilitate evidenced based and curriculum programs in classrooms to include Too Good for Drugs and Think First and Stay Safe Program as well as additional groups supports when needed surrounding socialization, self esteem and mindfulness.
• Provide presentations and support surrounding topics to include but not limited to Transition to middle school, Kindergarten orientation with PTA, Anti-Bullying-Classroom Presentation, Wellness classroom programs, and classroom behavioral plan support

Skills:

• Possess skills in communication, verbal (including public speaking) and written skills.
• Demonstrates the ability to conduct professional interpersonal relationships, foster collaborations, strong partnerships, and team building to work within a school setting.
• Demonstrates ability to resolve issues , to look for solutions and to work positively with school staff, supervisors and building administration.

Qualifications:

• Masters Degree in Social Work
• Experience working in school setting (Internships included)
• Experience in working with elementary age population and parents

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $37.00 per hour

Expected hours: 31.5 per week
