Your primary responsibility will be to develop ministry programs and partnerships that provide meaningful ministry to students from 5th-12th grade. You should love Jesus, the Next Generation, and discipleship, and you should want to partner with parents/guardians, and others to help disciple and develop biblically sound students who reflect Christ’s character. You should work hard to ensure that all students are given opportunities to worship God, grow deeper in their faith and knowledge of God’s Word, connect in meaningful and healthy relationships with other young people and mentors, and to find places in which their ministry gifts can be used for the glory of God’s Kingdom.

Responsibilities And Duties
- Plan and carry out worship and teaching services that are well developed and model the highest level of excellence for all junior and senior high school students
- Oversee midweek service/small groups for junior high and high school students
- Plan and carry out all spiritual development, outreach/service, and fellowship/invitational-type events for junior high and high school students, including at least one event per type quarterly in a calendar year
- Provide pastoral care (guests, missing sheep, follow-up for illness and/or surgery, etc.) and pastoral guidance/discipleship for junior high and high school students
- Meet regularly with the Team 56 leader to collaborate, strategize, build relationship, and to ensure smooth, age-level transitions and ministry coherence
- Meet regularly and collaborate with the children’s ministry director to address goal development, ministry objectives, and progress, and to ensure smooth, age-level transitions and ministry coherence
- Direct the Speed the Light program by setting and then working toward reaching the giving goal, holding fundraisers, and promoting the program throughout the year
- Work with the worship pastor and other ministry staff to help develop and then connect students in serving in places of ministry within the adult church service context, especially on 3rd Sundays and during 2nd Service
- Work with the Network Family Ministries Director and Network Missions and Church Plant Director to provide a means by which young people are exposed to the call and then given the opportunity to flesh out the same by participating in mission trips, internships, and educational pursuits that will facilitate that call
- Develop a calendar of events (sports, theatre, dance, academic feats, etc.) for participating students and make every effort to attend some of these events while encouraging adult youth leaders to do likewise
- Recruit, select, train, and provide oversight to all adult youth leaders – and student leaders – including the worship leader and team; equip and multiple leaders
- Collaborate with the Network Family Ministries Director to hold two combined campus retreats annually. It is expected that the Student Ministries Pastor serve as a chaperone at all campus sponsored retreats and camps
- Collaborate with the Programming Manager to plan and promote all events and activities for 5th-12th grade students in an organized and timely fashion
- Collaborate with Young Adult Ministry Team Leaders, especially in regard to juniors and seniors, to build relationships and to ensure a smooth ministry transition
- Communicate regularly with students, parents/guardians, leaders, staff, and others
- Complete administrative tasks efficiently and timely to keep ministry running effectively
- Arrive 90 minutes early for Sunday services and 45 minutes early before midweek and special services and other events to assist in making sure that all things are in order.
- Share in hospital visitation with other pastoral staff and attend pertinent events
- Share in responsibilities and connect with parishioners during events and services
- Assist with tasks and initiatives as directed by the Associate Pastor, Lead Pastor, and Network Executive Director, contributing to the overall mission and ministry of the church
- Must have family in godly order
- Must have strong and consistent devotional life |
- Must evidence a genuine Christian experience both publicly and privately
- Must support the Senior Pastor, staff, board, and ministry of Glad Tidings Church
- Must support Glad Tidings with regular attendance, tithes, and offerings
- Must demonstrate a clear heart for ministry
- Must have the proven ability to work in tandem with other ministry leaders
- Must have strong verbal, preaching/teaching, and written skills
- Must be a member in good standing of Glad Tidings Church
- It is expected that all salaried pastors work no less than 45-50 hours a week. This includes office hours, services, and social events in the community
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (preferably from a Bible College) or equivalent experience
- Experience in Student Ministry preferred but not required
