What are the responsibilities and job description for the Camp Foss Hobbies Director position at YMCA Camping Services?
Camp Foss is seeking a Hobbies Director who wishes to impact the lives of over 600 youth per summer. Camp Foss is located on the serene Willey Pond in Strafford, NH. The Hobbies Director will live onsite at camp, work with children, and supervise staff at an all girls' YMCA overnight camp.
The Hobbies Director is responsible for the following:
- Assist all activity heads in setting up their assigned area as a safe and enjoyable environment for campers.
- Work with the Program Director to hold regular meetings for hobbies staff. Evaluate hobbies staff after week three and at the end of the season.
- Schedule hobbies staff daily to ensure that all hobbies are offered and covered.
- Ensure that each hobby area is clean and safe including reporting all maintenance needs to the maintenance staff.
- Work with the senior staff on general camp procedures and other camp issues.
- Cross train all hobbies staff to cover as many hobbies as possible.
This responsibility requires enthusiasm, humor, patience, energy, maturity, focus and creativity on a continual basis in order to be an effective leader. Additionally, applicants should have general knowledge of Arts and Crafts, Performing Arts, Boating, Tomahawk Throwing, Archery, and Ropes. Applicants must have the ability to build positive relationships with youth ages 8-15 years old and staff members.
This position is at an all girls’ overnight camp. The Hobbies Director is expected to live onsite for 8.5 weeks beginning June 10th- August 16th.
$485 - $510 weekly based on experience. Room and board are included. Staff will gain lifelong skills that will be transferable to many future job and career choices.
