Position Title: Program Coordinator
Department: School Age Childcare, Burke County, Salem Elementary School, Morganton
Reports To: Regional Programming Director
Employment Type: Full-Time
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 6:00 AM - 7:30 AM and 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM (may be flexible and will also adjust for meetings)
Pay Rate: Up to $17.50 per hour / $36,400 per year
Overview:
The YMCA is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Program Coordinator to oversee our before/after/summer camp programs. This role requires a proactive leader who can manage daily operations, support staff, and ensure a safe and engaging environment for children. The Program Coordinator will work closely with other YMCA staff, parents, and the community to deliver high-quality programs that align with the YMCA’s mission.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program Management:
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee the daily operations of the before/after/summer camp programs.
- Develop and implement age-appropriate activities that foster physical, social, and academic growth.
- Ensure all programs meet YMCA standards and comply with state regulations.
- Staff Supervision:
- Recruit, train, and supervise program staff, including group leaders and tutors.
- Conduct regular staff meetings and provide ongoing professional development.
- Evaluate staff performance and provide constructive feedback.
- Safety & Compliance:
- Maintain a safe and clean environment for all participants and staff.
- Ensure proper supervision and child-to-staff ratios are maintained at all times.
- Manage incident reports, behavior management, and emergency procedures.
- Family & Community Engagement:
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians about program updates, events, and their child's progress.
- Foster positive relationships with the community and local schools.
- Organize family involvement activities and special events.
- Administrative Duties:
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, incidents, and program outcomes.
- Manage the program budget and ensure proper allocation of resources.
- Assist with enrollment, billing, and other administrative tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Prefer candidates with EDU 119 (NC Early Childhood Credential) or willingness to obtain it within 6 months of hire.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in childcare, youth programs, or a related field.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently.
- Age Requirement:
