What are the responsibilities and job description for the Teen Director position at YMCA of Catawba Valley?

General Function

Under the general direction of the Associate Executive Director and consistent with the Christian mission and the policies and procedures set forth by the YMCA of Catawba Valley, the Teen Director is responsible for leading the Teen program and facility development; this includes on and off-site programs as well as special events designed specifically for teens. The Teen Director will coordinate quality control measures to ensure quality customer services are being delivered. This would include, but not limited to, program evaluations and character development programming. This position must perform within the operational guidelines and budget parameters established by the YMCA. As a member of the professional staff, the Teen Director is a constructive member of the YMCA whose major priority is to serve the members of the YMCA with the highest quality of programs and facilities available. Minimum Standards and Required Certifications

1. Preferred four-year degree in Childcare, Psychology, Business Management or related field.

2. Must have strong leadership and interpersonal skills and supervisory experience.

3. Strong understanding of fiscal management and the budget process.

4. Must have experience working with teens and program administration experience.

5. Current certifications in or ability to obtain: First Aid, CPR, Motor Vehicle Report check, criminal records check and drug screen.

6. Must be at least 18 years-old.

7. Must have proficiency with basic office software (e.g., Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, etc.) and familiarity with teen engagement platforms or apps.

8. Experience or training in working with diverse populations and promoting an inclusive environment is required.

9. Demonstrated skills in conflict resolution and behavioral management.

10. Willingness to attend YMCA leadership training or obtain teen program-specific certifications.

11. Must be responsive to members and program participants.

12. Must be attentive to details, well organized, able to meet deadlines, take initiative to solve problems, be proactive in decision making and work with little supervision.

13. Knowledge of emergency policies and procedures for the facility.

14. Understanding of risk management issues and safety requirements for the facility and program areas.

15. Must have strong oral and written communication skills with volunteers, members and parents.

16. Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays as needed.

Primary Responsibilities

1. Overseeing the daily operation, management and outside group rentals of the C.O. Miller Teen Center.

2. Hiring, training, supervising and evaluating all staff of the C.O. Miller Teen Center.

3. Assisting in the budget development and implementation for the C.O. Miller Teen Center.

4. Being responsible for program growth and development of the C.O. Miller Teen Center.

5. Coordinating and supervising the teen activities and programs including but not limited to Teen After School and Leaders in Training Summer Camp.

6. Providing leadership to and expanding teen clubs including Leaders Club, Community Achievers, and Youth and Government

7. Ensuring the safety, health and welfare of the teens who participate in the teen programs.

8. Maintenance and cleanliness of the C.O. Miller Teen Center.

9. Establishing and maintaining effective communication with parents, staff, and community partners.

10. Providing leadership for fundraising efforts and volunteer development including achieving yearly goals within the Branch’s Annual Support Campaign.

11. Supporting and developing new programs that result from the YMCA’s collaboration with numerous community service organizations, foundations and grant providers.

12. Assisting with the administration of grant compliance for all funded teen service programs provided for the C.O. Miller Teen Center.

13. Managing and developing Special Events such as Teen Character Awards, 5th Quarter Parties, Middle School dances and other community events.

14. Tracking program participation, retention, and satisfaction data, and preparing reports for internal and external stakeholders, including donors and grant providers.

15. Developing promotional materials and outreach strategies for teen programs.

16. Ensuring all staff and volunteers are trained in risk management practices and emergency procedures.

17. Conducting regular assessments or programs to evaluate their effectiveness and alignment with YMCA goals and teen needs.

18. Coordinating with local schools to promote programs and recruit participants.

19. Assumes Manager on Duty (MOD) responsibilities as scheduled.

20. Any other duties assigned by the Associate Executive Director.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $44,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
