Ropes Course Specialist
The Ropes Course Specialist at Camp Ernst works as part of a team to lead programs and ensure campers have a successful week. The specialist will support and lead all high and low ropes course programs, plan and execute activities, and model the camp values.
Responsibilities:
- Operate high and low ropes elements according to training and operating procedures.
- Assist in daily set-up and take down of ropes course equipment.
- Document daily all assigned equipment checks, element checks, facility checks, and safety checks in the ropes log.
- Assist in tracking person and equipment use in ropes log daily.
- Assist in maintaining cleanliness and order of ropes course area and equipment.
- Assist in tracking inventory and notify Ropes Course Coordinator or Program Director of any equipment needs or repairs.
- Train both campers and staff in the philosophy, skills, activities, and safety procedures of high and low rope courses.
- Lead ground school training to all participants and verify participants' proper use of equipment prior to allowing them to enter the course.
- Guide group discussions and debriefing activities for high low ropes course.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Ability to complete and retain high and low ropes course safety certifications, provided by camp.
- Must be able to work at heights, climb up/down a frame/vertical ladder, and pull self and another person across ropes course.
- Current state approved First Aid & CPR certification must be maintained throughout employment.
- YMCA Child Abuse Prevention training certification must be completed prior to the beginning of the camp program.
