Assists in the development, planning and implementation of high-quality YMCA marketing, and communication materials.

Essential Functions:
- Assists Marketing Director in developing internal and external communication messages to support business strategies. Helps to ensure YMCA brand and graphic standards are consistently represented.
- Coordinate the Association's email communication system - help train staff members, set guidelines for use, assist with content, collects content information from branches to be used in written communication, etc.
- Assists in developing YMCA communications materials for the Association and branches including press releases, campaign literature and support material, annual reports, etc. Works with the association management staff, branch management staff, and outside resources to produce high quality and cost-efficient communications.
- Assists Marketing and Communications Director in providing Marketing and Communications support for YMCA Camp Kern.
- Assists in the development of the Intranet and common content. Develops Intranet based employee communications and newsletters and distributes regularly.
- Assists in providing media relations, speechwriting and donor relations support to the YMCA President & CEO, and the vice presidents.
- Assists with writing website and e-mail content.
- Assists in attending and providing support for area health fairs or other Y and community events.
- Assists in planning major YMCA events, including the annual meeting, donor events, Strong Kids Triathlon, etc.
- Evaluates communications to audiences, including news media, industry groups, and employees. Makes recommendations to enhance the success of future communications.
- Assists as needed in helping the shared service Y’s with PR and communications needs.
- Communicates to direct supervisor any concerns or incidents that may need follow-up.
- Communicates office policy, procedures, and changes to all staff.
- Fosters an inclusive work environment.
- Maintains confidentiality of employee information and exercises discretion when dealing with sensitive information.
- Works effectively with volunteers on the Marketing Committee, Metro Board, etc.
- Participates on Membership Task Team as appropriate.
Qualifications:
- A 2-year college degree or applicable experience is required; Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications or a related field strongly preferred.
- CPR/AED, First Aid and Oxygen within 60 days of hire and kept current.
- Three to four years of marketing, communications and writing experience with proven project management skills for special event planning.
- Must hold a valid driver’s license, insurable drivers record according to the YMCA’s insurance carriers, and have reliable transportation to travel for business meetings, training events, YMCA site visits, vendors, and suppliers, etc.
- Computer skills needed, particularly with Microsoft Office and email applications, along with ability to learn the internal YMCA software.
- Experience with Adobe Suite and Drupal database software a plus.
