Position Overview:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Program Director at the Downtown YMCA oversees the development and operations of the teen programs, including, but not limited to, Teen Leaders Club, Youth & Government, Career & College Exploration Club, Intramural Sports, Music & Art Club. Develop designs practices, processes, and procedures for strong program and project management.
Essential Job Functions:
- Ensures programs and services meet community needs to include supervising existing program activities, establishing new program activities, and expanding the program within the community as needed. Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.
- Recruits, hires, inspires and supervises diverse staff and volunteer teams across multiple dimensions of diversity. Onboards and develops them for success, along with ensuring the Code of Conduct is followed. Promotes a team concept through a positive approach to supervision, communication, and interactions with others.
- Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Facilitates a program environment that invites participation, socialization, positive behavior and positive attitude. Be knowledgeable of "40 Developmental Assets" set forth by the Search Institute.
- Serves as a positive role model, demonstrates professional behavior and understands positive youth development approaches to the academic, mental and Social development of youth. Provides careful, attentive supervision of participants at all times.
- Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community and government organizations. maintains regular, clear, and concise communication within area of responsibility.
- Maintains accurate program records as assigned and according to program requirements.
- Provides leadership for the Annual Giving Campaign, Special Events and other Fundraising.
- Manages the program, including developing and monitoring the program budget to meet fiscal objectives; compiling program statistics to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of and participation in program; grant writing and grant management; securing and scheduling the needed facilities; and creating and scheduling the classes, activities or events.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience.
- YMCA Team Leader certification preferred.
- Two years related experience preferred.
- Minimum age of 21.
- Within 30 days of hire, completion of Child Abuse Prevention, Mandated Reporter Training, Working with Program Volunteers, CPR, First Aid, AED, and Bloodborne Pathogens training.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Supervisory experience is preferred, as a coordinator or supervisor of teen programs.
- PA Child Abuse, FBI Criminal Background Check, PA State Police Criminal Records Check and other applicable clearances and required Pre-employment trainings.
- Pre-employment drug testing to be administered prior to employment.
