Responsibilities

The YMCA is seeking Summer Camp Counselors who are enthusiastic, energetic, and compassionate with a strong desire to positively impact the lives of young children while leading fun and enriching activities for school-age children participating in summer day camp at Camp. (Arlington Elementary School).

Connect : Supervise assigned groups of children and engage in positive staff-child interaction.

Develop : Promote a healthy, emotional, social, intellectual, and physical environment of each child.

Lead : Provide day-to-day responsibilities to create a safe, secure, and enjoyable environment for campers.

Requirements

Candidates must be committed to contributing to the mission, culture, and values of the YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne as well as :

Minimum of 16 years of age with a high school diploma or its equivalent.

Reliable transportation to attend work.

Good communication, accounting, and organizational skills.

Warm, engaging, and friendly demeanor that is able to connect quickly with children and their parents.

If working in the afternoon, must be willing to get in the water with campers for swimming.

Ability to relate to, welcome and communicate with diverse groups of people regardless of age, race, economic status, religion, or cultural differences.

Salary : Part-time $14.00-$14.50 hourly

Hours Available : a variety of shifts available : Monday-Friday, 6 : 30 am-12 : 00 pm, 12 : 00 pm-6 : 00 pm. Camp starts May 22, 2025, and ends August 1, 2025

Salary : $14 - $15
