POSITION SUMMARY
The Health Officer is responsible for the supervision of health and cleanliness standards with a focus on Day Camp programs, facilities, and campers. Responsibilities include but are not limited to : organizing Day Camp health forms, working with camp nurse to control and dispense medicine to campers and staff, and ensuring the health and wellness of staff and campers in Day Camp, along with supporting other aspects of Camp programming both administratively and programmatically.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION
Identify and Meet Camper / Staff Needs
- Organize and file camper health forms.
- Help organize and update Day Camp daily rosters (group and bus rosters).
- Organize and update Health Log Documentation daily
- Keep records of health management.
- Communicate camper concerns to staff and kitchen staff where needed.
- Control and dispense camper meds where needed.
- Clean and disinfect areas of camp that may pose health concerns.
- Inventory health supplies and order more when needed.
- Track, organize, and return Day Camp Lost and Found
- Be a patient, enthusiastic role model for our campers and staff.
- Assume a counselor role where needed.
- Help facilitate safe and fun programs for campers based on the YMCA core values.
- Identify, minimize, and eliminate (where possible) any risks that could cause accidents.
Carry Out Camp Programs
Administrative Responsibilities
Performs any other functions necessary for the smooth and efficient operation of Camp Manitou-Lin and the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids.
COMPENSATION
65.00 - $70.00 per day; Seasonal; Non -Exempt
