As a key member of the Aquatics team, a Water Fitness Instructor is responsible for proactive communication and maintaining a safe pool atmosphere while preventing accidents. The main purpose of this position is to instruct YMCA Water Fitness classes and provide a positive role model in a well-organized, professional attitude and appearance.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Team player with personal commitment to the YMCA Mission, Philosophy, & Character Development Values
- Provide safe and challenging Water Fitness classes to our members
- Minimum 18 years of age and show the technical ability to lead a water fitness class
- Stay informed and knowledgeable in the area of water fitness/healthy lifestyles
- Responsible for scheduled shifts and, if necessary, follow the appropriate substitute procedures
- YMCA Water Fitness Certification or AEA equivalent (within 6 months of employment)
- People centered, service oriented
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Uphold the Mission of the YMCA
- Excellent customer service and verbal skills
- Consistent positive attitude
- Ability to work with all age groups and ability levels
- Maintain all required certifications
- Be on deck 15 minutes prior to class to greet participants; get all equipment set up before class begins and put away after class ends
- Attend all staff meetings and trainings a required by the Aquatics Director
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Be able to project voice and hear noises and distress signals in an aquatic environment
- Have the ability to teach both on deck as well as in the pool
- Be able to work in a wet/humid environment and come in contact with chlorinated water
- Be able to lift at least 25 pounds
- Noise leve-High
STATUS: Part time, Non-Exempt
SALARY RANGE: $14.00-15.50/hour
