Overview
The Sports & Enrichment Program Coordinator enthusiastically represents the Freehold Family YMCA, displaying a positive attitude, delivering relevant programs and activities, and excellent service to all while working in a team-oriented, high-volume, fast-paced, member-centric environment. The position will serve as the conduit for services and functions to engage members and program participants within the policies and guidelines of the YMCA. The Program Coordinator will assist the Sports & Enrichment Director in the planning and executing of sports, recreational activities, childcare programs, camps, special events, and birthday parties which are of interest to and meet the needs of the communities served by the YMCA Association.
Responsibilities
- Is responsible for assisting with the development, staffing, direct service, and operation of programs which enhance the experience of young children and their families. These programs include but are not limited to babysitting, youth and adult sports recreational programming, camps, birthday parties, and special events.
- Assisting the Camp Director, to be responsible for leading summer day camp and school-break camps.
- Will provide leadership in the planning, implementation, and execution of Healthy Kids Day and other annual community-focused events, field marketing opportunities, and fundraising efforts.
- Expand membership programs within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with community organizations.
- Visually inspect work area and equipment for safety and risk, report to supervisor in writing any problems. Responsible for filling out accident/incident reports and getting these reports to the Director on Duty and/or Branch Executive Director. Additionally, immediately report any unsafe or suspicious activity directly to the Director on Duty and branch Executive Director.
- Adhere to policies related to boundaries with youth. Complete required abuse and risk management trainings. Follow mandated abuse reporting procedures, including reporting suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.
- Perform any other reasonable duties assigned by the Sports & Enrichment Director or Branch Executive Director.
Qualifications
- Associates degree or work equivalent in related area preferred.
- Minimum of one to three years of experience in developing and delivering programs, activities, and events.
- Minimum of one year experience in customer service and/or sales preferred.
- Must be able to adhere to a flexible and non-traditional work schedule of days/hours and perform a combination of direct service and administrative tasks.
- Strong interpersonal, communication and customer service skills exhibiting sensitivity, adaptability, professionalism, and articulation when dealing with others.
- Bilingual ability (Spanish/English) preferred.
