Overview
The Association Aquatics Director leads our Association in best practice implementation for all branches aquatic programs and services. It is also responsible for the development, implementation, administration, and supervision of the Bell Road and Goodtimes YMCA aquatics. This position will also serve branch leadership through supporting overall day-to-day operations as needed. In addition, every position in the YMCA of Greater Montgomery is responsible for upholding the Christian principles that are central to our mission by modeling behaviors that build character, make a difference, and change lives.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- To promote, administer and lead our Association in best practice implementation for all branches aquatic programs and aquatic wellness services, including swim lessons instruction, swim lesson instructor training and lifeguard training.
- To develop, implement, and oversee all association swim lessons programs according to YMCA standards.
- Works in conjunction with Barracuda Swim Team Head Coach for YMCA of Greater Montgomery Summer Swim League.
- To maintain all pool operations, keep adequate records in accordance with local/State regulations, evaluate and control water chemistry to ensure no gaps in programing.
- Develop, schedule, and manage the Association monthly training calendar for association staff training in CPR/1st Aid/AED
- Lead association annual trainings for lifeguards and swim lesson instructors.
- Maintain active engagement & relationships with association wide pool vendors and trainers.
- Provide leadership with quarterly pool audits of each pool in our association during the year and monthly during the summer.
- Serve as the lead of the Association Aquatic Cabinet with focus on best practices for swim lesson programs, budgeting, lifeguard training, local and national certification requirements
- Establishes new program activities and expands programs within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
- Identifies strategic collaborative partnerships that congruently align with the YMCA’s strategic priorities.
- Research and write grants pertaining to swim lessons, safety around water programs and services.
- To maintain knowledge of current trends in aquatics and be able to implement new programs and ideas for success and growth of programs.
- To plan, organize, implement, and evaluate all activities of aquatic programs for the Bell Road, Goodtimes, Wilson YMCA and off-site pools.
- To recruit, hire, train, schedule, and supervise all part-time employees in areas of the Bell Road, Goodtimes and Wilson YMCA Aquatic operations, fill in for department/program staff as needed for effectiveness of program.
- To develop, implement and monitor aquatic budget under supervision.
- To serve as staff leader to provide leadership for all levels of staff and to model outstanding customer service. Provide as needed; assistance in managing other areas of the facility and branch program offerings to maintain branch effectiveness.
- Provide support overall day-to-day branch operations and assist branch leadership at the Bell Road YMCA.
- Serve as a Manager on Duty as directed/scheduled.
- To serve as part of the staff leadership team for the branch Annual Support Campaign.
- Accept additional assignments as deemed appropriate, within the scope of the job description.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Previous supervisory experience in customer service preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Required for hire: PRO-CPR, 1st Aid, AED, Oxygen, & Current YMCA or Red Cross lifeguard certification, Current Lifeguard Instructor Certification, Current WSI or YMCA Swim instructor certification.
- Required within 30 days of employment: Bloodborne Pathogens, Child Abuse Prevention training.
- Required within 90 days of employment: Certified Pool Operator Certification; Lifeguard Instructor Trainer
