This is a Seasonal Position
$380/week
Under direction of the Camp Ranger, the Support Staff is responsible for working with the Cooks, Dining Hall Coordinator and other Camp Cory Staff to assure that meals are presented to the camp community in a timely, appealing, healthy and appropriate manner. The Kitchen Staff will ensure that the kitchen is clean, well supplies and runs efficiently. The position is responsible for ensuring that the mission, purpose, image and core values of the YMCA of Greater Rochester is conveyed.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To wash all dishes, pots, pans, utensils and all other cookery used in the preparation of food.
- To prepare the dish room prior to the end of each meal including putting out slop bucket, dish racks and silverware bins.
- To ensure the cleanliness of the dish room, including sweeping and mopping at least once a day; cleaning all counters and dish washing surfaces at the end of each meal leaving them clean and dry; and emptying the drying rack of all dishes.
- To make sure that all dish washing machinery is operating properly and informing supervisor immediately if it is not.
- To bag up all garbage in the dish room and move them to the loading bay.
- To assist in the serving of meals to campers.
- To assist the food service provider in the overall operation of the kitchen.
- To assist with check-in and check-out processes on opening and closing days.
- Assisting in camp programs as needed and as time allows.
- Is familiar with and carries out emergency procedures, building rules and regulations.
- Attend all required trainings and meetings.
- All other duties as assigned.
Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must have experience with camp and working with children.
- Current certification in Standard First Aid and CPR for the Professional Rescuer required; certifications must be valid/current before the first day of staff training and throughout the duration of your seasonal employment.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Must successfully complete Staff Training, specifically including the YMCA’s New Employee Orientation and Listen First Learn & Implement Cycle.
- Person must possess values consistent with the mission of the YMCA.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and transport equipment from one location to another.
- Ability to visibly observe children.
- Ability to stand for an extended period of time.
- Ability to demonstrate and lead activities.
- Ability to hear distress signals even when distracted by noise and activity.
- Ability to reason, solve problems and make sound decisions even when distracted by
- noise and activity.
- Ability to work in a variety of environments, specifically those subject to extreme heat
- and humidity.
- Observe and promote safety and security procedures.
