Job Title: Kids Zone Coordinator , Speer YMCA
Description: Under the direction of the Youth and Family Director, the Kids Zone Coordinator leads and manages the Kid Zone, its related programs, and provides hands on support to the staff within the department. Organizing, planning, safety, and personal follow-ups will be the primary responsibilities of this position.
Essential Functions:
- Provides enriching activities for children, supporting family engagement and satisfaction.
- Support Youth and family Director with planning curriculum for Kids Zone.
- Supervises staff to ensure a positive experience for children and families.
- Ensures all policies and procedures are being followed properly.
- Monitors the monthly schedule making sure there is appropriate coverage for the Kid Zone.
- Monitors staffing ratios to make decisions regarding dismissing staff from shifts when the Kid Zone is less busy and calling in extra help when necessary. Keeps track of daily Kid Zone usages and reports it in the monthly calendar.
- Reports to the Youth and Family Program Director when there are any staffing issues that need immediate attention and further action taken.
- Maintains a professional relationship with parents and the children entrusted to YMCA care.
- Maintains the equipment and games in the Kids Zone with emphasis on cleanliness, sanitation, safety and age appropriateness.
- Understands and promotes all YMCA programs.
- Builds relationships with all YMCA constituents by being responsible, honest, caring and respectful.
Qualifications:
- Requires HS diploma or equivalent.
- Requires minimum 1 year experience working with infants, toddlers and youth.
- First Aid, CPR & AED certifications required within 30 days of hire.
- Must be able to set work priorities and handle multiple priorities simultaneously, to ensure deadlines are met.
- Ability to supervise departmental staff effectively
- Ability to work cooperatively with branch management staff
Pay & Perks: Schedule: 20 hrs/week, Part-time, to include weekdays, evenings and weekend rotations as needed. Pay: $18-20/hr. Free individual YMCA membership for employee and discount for family. Pre-employment drug screen and clear background check required
