Job title: Membership Services Associate
The Membership Services Associate delivers excellent service to all members, guests, and program participants. Responds to member and guest needs,promotes memberships and programs, and maintains cleanliness and organization of the lobby area. Exhibits active listening skills during all personal and telephone contacts.
Essential Functions
- Provides excellent service to members, guests, and program participants in the Y and on the phone, contributing to member retention.
- Greets and engages members and guests, connecting with people of diverse backgrounds.
- Keeps all courtesy areas clean and organized, and assists members with special requests.
- Conducts interviews and tours responsive to the needs of prospective members; promotes and sells memberships.
- Performs data entry, files, accurately handles financial transactions, and processes various enrollments, cancellations, and other membership changes.
- Builds relationships with members; helps members connect with one another and the YMCA.
- Handles and resolves membership concerns and informs supervisor of unusual situations or unresolved issues.
- Applies all YMCA policies dealing with member services.
- Maintains awareness of programs, schedules, camps and special events.
- Supports fundraising.
- Follows budgeting policies and procedures, and reports all financial irregularities immediately.
- May hand out locker keys and towels; may monitor the locker rooms as required.
- Understand and promote all YMCA programs values.
Qualifications
- Minimum 18 years of age
- Must have High School Diploma or GED
- CPR/AED, and First Aid certification or within 30 days of hire
- 6 months to 1 year of customer service, sales or related experience preferred
- Must possess excellent organizational, communication, and problem solving skills
- Ability to comprehend and recall large amounts of detailed information as well as clearly and effectively communicating with others both in writing and orally
- Personal interaction skills also include the ability to work effectively as a Y team
member - Must have computer proficiency to accurately input and process data for paperless filing systems, data entry in online membership database systems, computerized member check-in, online billing transactions, online scheduling, online background checks, and online plan eligibility checks
- Ability to analyze membership records to properly process membership activation, assign appropriate membership categories, pricing levels, applicable discounts, and reconcile billing issues
- Other office skills required include Microsoft Office (primarily for word processing), emailing, online work scheduling, recordkeeping, filing, copying, faxing, cashiering, and phone reception
Hourly rate $15.50, commensurate with experience. Flexible hours and shifts available to include mornings, afternoons, evenings and/or weekends. Free individual YMCA membership for employee and discount for family. Pre-employment drug screen and clear background check required.
