POSITION SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Wellness Director, the Wellness Coordinator is responsible for providing supervision and administrative assistance for a variety of branch wellness programs, and for creating a safe, enjoyable and positive environment that promotes member wellness and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures. In addition, every position in the YMCA of Greensboro is responsible for carrying out our promise to strengthen the foundations of community with focus on Youth Development, Healthy Living and Social Responsibility while upholding our values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Promotes, administers and leads in development and implementation of wellness programs and services, looking for opportunities for innovative programming as well as potential modifications of existing programming.
  2. Organizes and develops special events relating to the wellness function such as group exercise events or blood drives, maintaining an atmosphere of inclusion and enthusiasm for the Y’s mission.
  3. Secures and maintains facilities and equipment within the wellness areas for the safety and well-being of the program participants.
  4. Works throughout the Wellness Department on a regular basis, including filling in for subordinate staff in case of absences to facilitate a positive member experience in Group Exercise, Personal Training, Wellness coaching and the wellness center.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly or indirectly supervises all employees in the Wellness Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   1. Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university preferred; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  2. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  3. Ability to communicate effectively across all socio-economic levels of the community to inspire and encourage effectively participation in all wellness activities.
  4. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. Employee must be able to lift and carry weights up to 50 pounds.
  5. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  6. Nationally recognized group exercise certification OR personal training certification preferred for hire, depending on the focus of the position at the specific branch. CPR/AED, First Aid and Blood Borne Pathogen certifications required upon hire.

Salary : $39,500 - $42,000
