The Greensburg YMCA is currently seeking Part Time Lifeguards for multiple morning and/or afternoon shifts. Not trained or certified yet? Not a problem. The YMCA will provide the paid lifeguard training and free certification.

Shifts Available:

Monday- 5:30am to 11:00am and/or 3:00pm to 7:30pm

Position Summary
A Lifeguard monitors pool activities and ensures member safety. Lifeguards need to possess knowledge of rescue procedures and emergency medical procedures. To help prevent incidents and ensure safety, lifeguards must enforce all safety guidelines as outlined by the YMCA and remain alert throughout an entire shift. Additional job duties a lifeguard performs include preparing activity and incident reports and performing pool maintenance as needed.
Essential Functions:
- Maintains constant surveillance of patrons in the facility; acts immediately and appropriately to secure safety of patrons in the event of emergency.
- Provides emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical service.
- Presents professional appearance and attitude at all times, and maintains a high standard of customer service.
- Performs various maintenance duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility.
- Prepares and maintains appropriate activity reports.
- Instructs quality lessons when assigned.
Qualifications
- Current Red Cross lifeguard and CPR/First Aid certification preferred.
Or
- Ability to pass the Red Cross Life Guard Training and CPR / First Aide Certification exam.
- Applicant needs to pass a skills test in the application of life-guarding surveillance and rescue techniques.
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Knowledge of CPR and emergency medical procedures.
- Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions.
- Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures.
- Availability to work early morning, day time, and evening shifts.
- Criminal, Child Abuse, and FBI clearances (It is the responsibility of the applicant to obtain all required clearances).
Physical Demands: The employee is required to reach and pull and push with hands and arms and use legs to lift/move up to 35 lbs. occasionally. Must be able to swim a half mile a month and attend monthly guard training sessions.
