Preschool Teacher/Aide

YMCA of Indiana County is now hiring a Preschool Teacher/Aide, for our licensed preschool, to assist with implementing programming, supervising children, and ensuring a safe and healthy environment. This position is a maximum of 25 hours a week.

Experience Requirements:

• Previous experience working with children.
• Enthusiastic, energetic, fun loving and able to work a wide variety of people and ages.
• Ability to lead and participate in a range of activities in a variety of outdoor/indoor settings in a manner which helps children grow their knowledge, skills and capabilities. Strong ability to motivate and inspire others.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and relationship building skills relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
• Ability to make independent decisions, and determine the appropriate course of action and able to manage difficult situations with a high level of professionalism.

GENERAL FUNCTION:

• Assists with operations of a licensed preschool for children,
• Implements preschool program schedule and activities.
• Provides direct supervision of a group of children.
• Will be counted in ratio.
• Provides a quality experience to children (ages 3-5) and parents focused on YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Working with participants in a program or instructional setting (sitting, standing, kneeling, walking.)
• Position requires lifting at least 35 pounds on a regular basis and exerting up to 50 pounds of occasionally for force in moving objects.
• Position requires reaching above the shoulders, bending at the waist, squatting, kneeling, stooping, crawling, crouching, climbing, balancing, reaching, pushing, pull lift, grasping, feeling, hearing, and having visual acuity and sitting on the floor depending on the activities scheduled.
• Individuals must be able to work on a variety of surfaces including cement floors, tile floors, carpeted floors, mulch, wood, and rubberized surfaces.
