SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) serves as a strategic partner to business leaders, aligning business objectives with employees and management. The HRBP acts as a consultant on human resource-related issues, providing guidance and support across talent management, organizational & staff development, employee relations, and performance management. This role will be a dedicated resource & support for the Childcare department and have a dotted line reporting to the SVP of School Aged Services. The HRBP plays a vital role in supporting the mission of the YMCA by aligning human resources strategies with the organization’s values and program goals. This role acts as a trusted advisor to leadership, helping to foster a positive, inclusive, and mission-driven workplace culture. The HRBP assists in ensuring HR practices uphold equity, compliance, and long-term organizational sustainability.
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
This role will be a dedicated human resource support for the Childcare department and be the liaison to facilitate the partnership and alignment with childcare and human resources. This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Partner with Childcare leadership to align HR strategy with business goals and drive workforce planning initiatives.
- Partner with senior leaders to understand programmatic goals and provide strategic HR guidance that supports mission delivery.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to managers and employees, offering expertise in employee relations, performance management, and organizational development.
- Support talent acquisition efforts, including workforce planning, recruitment strategy, and onboarding processes.
- Lead employee engagement efforts, analyzing survey results and helping to implement action plans.
- Provide coaching and development support to managers and team leads to strengthen leadership capabilities.
- Collaborate with childcare leadership to deliver integrated HR solutions.
- Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations, and maintain knowledge of current HR trends and practices.
- Analyze HR metrics and provide insights and recommendations to improve performance, retention, and employee satisfaction.
- Drive change management initiatives, fostering a culture of agility and continuous improvement.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, SPHR) is a plus.
- 3 years of progressive HR experience, preferably in a business partner or generalist capacity.
- Strong understanding of HR best practices, including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, and compliance with state child care regulation.
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and consultative skills, with the ability to engage and support employees and leaders across all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels; strong communication and influencing skills are essential for success in this role.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience in a mission-driven environment with multiple stakeholders and limited resources is highly valued; familiarity with the unique dynamics of child-focused organizations is a strong plus.
- Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple high-priority tasks in a fast-paced environment; strong organizational skills and adaptability are essential.

WORK SCHEDULE:
The schedule for this full-time position is generally Monday through Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm, though work outside these days/hours may be required depending on the business need.
