What are the responsibilities and job description for the Workforce Development Coach/Trainer-Manufacturing position at YMCA of Memphis & the Mid-South?
Summary: The WORC Coach & Trainer will provide training and coaching to program
participants to help them develop the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in the
manufacturing sector. They will deliver training programs, mentor, support on-the-job training,
provide leadership support, and provide one-on-one coaching to participants. This role will
maintain relationships with participants to track retention and long-term satisfaction with the
program.
Responsibilities
Leadership & Collaboration
- Maintain strong relationships with employer and community partners
- Communicate effectively with AJC partner staff, employers, partners, participants, and the public
- Develop and maintain relationships with program participants to support their growth and development in the manufacturing industry.
- Work as part of a cross-functional organizational team
Training & Skills Development
- Collaborate with industry partners and trainers to conduct skills assessments
- Recommend and/or develop training materials and curriculum to achieve training needs for a manufacturing-based workforce development program
- Deliver training programs, on-the-job Training, and mentoring to program participants
- Ensure strong partnership connection with training partners to provide the most effective pathway to job placement
- Track participant progress and ensure overall participant achievement to meet required grant outcomes
- Have strong content knowledge and understanding of the manufacturing sector and workforce development.
- Be able to deliver certification programs or partner with certification partners to achieve results
Client Support
- Assess participant needs and develop individualized training & support plans
- Develop and provide one-on-one coaching to participants to help develop their skills and knowledge
- Manage administrative tasks related to training, tracking completion, non-completers, industry certifications, job placement, and wages
- Track participant progress and provide feedback
- Connect to the American Job Centers to assist participants with job placement
- Maintain relationships with participants to track retention and long-term satisfaction
- All other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- 2 or more years in the Manufacturing or Workforce Development sector
- Strong organizational and management skills
- Industry-related certifications in manufacturing and related fields
- Understanding and awareness of the needs of communities marginalized or historically excluded
- Excellent relationship-building skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with a team
WORK SCHEDULE:
- This is a full-time position.
- Evening and weekend work may be required to accommodate participant needs
- Frequent travel throughout the region.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
1. Ability to walk, stand, and sit (including on the floor) for long periods of time.
2. Must be able to lift and carry food or supplies weighing up to 40-50 pounds.
3. Ability to stand or sit while maintaining alertness for several hours at a time.
4. Position may require bending, leaning, kneeling and walking.
5. Ability to speak concisely and effectively communicate.
6. Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an
emergency
7. Ability to view/enter data for long periods of time.
