Are you ready for an unforgettable summer filled with adventure, creativity, and fun? The YMCA of Memphis & the Mid-South is looking for an energetic and enthusiastic Specialty Camp Counselor to lead our exciting specialty camps! This position is perfect for current teachers, education students, or those pursuing a career in the education field. It provides valuable hands-on experience in leading and engaging groups of children in a dynamic and fun learning environment. This is the perfect summer opportunity for you!

Reliable candidates available from May 27, 2025 –August 1, 2025 (must be available every week of camp).
Your Role :
Lead and supervise a group of campers in exciting, themed specialty camps.
Create a fun, inclusive, and safe environment while keeping campers engaged.
Assist in designing and leading hands-on activities that align with weekly themes.
Be a positive role model, mentor, and leader for young minds.
Ensure camper safety by following all YMCA policies and procedures.
Communicate effectively with campers, parents, and fellow camp staff.
Attend pre-camp training and participate in weekly camp planning.
Our Specialty Camps Include :
STEM Builder City – Get creative with LEGO bricks, Magna Tiles, and more!
Artist Studio – Inspire young artists through sculpting, painting, and mixed-media projects!
Space Explorers Camp – Design rockets, create space habitats, and train like astronauts!
Ultimate Sports Camp – High-energy fun with basketball, flag football, volleyball & more!
Specialty Camp Preview Week – Let campers experience a new adventure every day!
Qualifications :
Minimum age : 18 (High school diploma required, college coursework preferred).
Previous experience working with youth (coaching, babysitting, tutoring, teaching, etc.).
CPR, First Aid, and AED certification (can be obtained within 30 days of hire).
Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Comfortable leading different themed camps rather than being assigned to just one specialty.
Work Environment :
Be ready for physical activity – standing, kneeling, climbing, and lifting up to 25 lbs.
Enjoy working outdoors and indoors in a lively camp setting.
Exposure to sports equipment, art supplies, and light cleaning agents may be required.
