The Teen Engagement Specialist supports the YMCA’s mission by developing, implementing, and leading programs that engage teens in positive youth development activities. Essential Functions
- Facilitate a specialty activity for YMCA participants.
- Creates an energizing, fun, safe, and educational environment for specialty activities, as directed by the supervisor, to accomplish the YMCA mission and goals.
- Plans and implements program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate and consistent with YMCA values.
- Asks and answers questions from program participants and members.
- Maintains working knowledge of specialty area to provide effective information and support to participants.
- Builds effective, authentic relationships with participants and members; helps members and program participants connect with each other and the YMCA.
- Keeps accurate records of participant attendance.
- Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.
- Attends staff meetings and trainings.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- At least 18 years of age.
- Certifications: ASHI Basic Life Support (ASHI CPR Pro), First Aid.
- High school graduate or equivalent; one year or more of college preferred.
- Previous experience working in specialty area.
- Previous experience with diverse populations preferred.

- Ability to plan, lead and participate in a range of activities in a variety of outdoor/indoor settings. Will require outdoor work during the summer months. May be required to lift up to 20 pounds.
- Must be available to work Monday-Saturday from 4-9pm
