Seasonal Summer Expanded Learning Credentialed Teacher - Burbank Family YMCA

Support the Burbank Y's Learn, Grow Thrive Summer Learning Program, in Partnership with Burbank Unified School District!

There is no better time for expanded learning than in the summer! This is why the Burbank Y is partnering with the Burbank Unified School Distirct to provide our Learn, Grow, Thrive Summer Expanded Learning Program. This prgoram is offered to BUSD students who would be positively impacted by an academic boost during the summer. Come join our teaching team as we lead the way in mitigating summer learning loss in our exceptional Learn Grow Thrive Program!

What We Are Looking For:

• Must possess a valid Teaching Credential
• Bachelors in Education or a related field.
• 2 years or more of classroom teaching and classroom management experience with K-6th grade.
• Must be able to commit to all 5 weeks of the prgoram, from June 2, 2025 to July 3, 2025.
• Must be able to commit to the shift hours, Monday-Friday, 8:00am-2:00pm.
• Ability to execute the ARLY BellEXCEL Summer Curriculum and implement literacy, mathematics and SEL curriculums.
• CPR/First Aid certified or willing to get certified through the YMCA before the first day of program.
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to create a safe and welcoming environment for all
• Eagerness to contribute to a diverse and inclusive community
• Ability to attend all pre-summer trainings and development sessions (see dates below)

Required Trainings: In order to work with the YMCA this summer, all summer program hires are required to attend the following trainings, listed below. If you cannot attend the trainings listed below, we will unfortunately not be able to employ you at the YMCA this summer. At the Y, we believe that training and professional development is an essential component of running a safe and engaging summer expanded learning prgoram. Please review the training dates and self-reflect to determine if you are available to attend all trainings. Once you have confirmed that you can attend all trainings, please continue and apply. All trainings are paid trainings. In addition, the YMCA offers free CPR/First Aid classes for all summer employees, which are also paid trainings:

You must attend a total of two (2) trainings. In addition to the two (2) trainings listed below, if you are not currently certified in CPR/First Aid, you may need to attend an additional CPR/First Aid certification training offered by the YMCA. In addition to the trainiing and development scheudle listed below, you must attend a curriculum training, where specialist will train our summer prgoram staff on how to execute the expanded learning curriculum. You need to attend one training option from Group A and the training option in Group B. In addition, there are CPR/First Aid training options below if you need to be certified. All trainings are paid.

GROUP B TRAINING: Expanded Learning Summer Program Curriculum Training

• In-person only; no virtual option.

CPR/FIRST AID TRAINING: YMCA employees needing to complete First Aid & CPR certification courses should attend one (1) of the following options:

• Option 2 or Option 3: Sunday, June 1, 9:00am to 12:00pm or 12:30pm-3:30pm, North Hollywood, CA.

• Option 6: Thursday, June 12, 630pm-9:30pm, Los Angeles, CA (near LAX)
• Option 7: Friday, June 13, 9:00am-12:00pm, Torrance, CA
• Option 8 or Option 9: Sunday, June 15, 9:00am to 12:00pm or 12:30pm-3:30pm, Monrovia, CA

Additional training and on-site program prep will also be required. All training hours are paid.
