POSITION SUMMARY:
The YMCA of Muncie is seeking a dedicated and proactive Part Time Custodian to join our facilities team. The Part Time Custodian is responsible for overseeing the custodial team, ensuring the cleanliness and safety of the YMCA building and grounds. This position plays a crucial role in maintaining a positive, welcoming environment for all members, guests, and staff. The Part Time Custodian will be hands-on with cleaning tasks while also ensuring high standards of cleanliness and safety are consistently maintained.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Cleaning and Maintenance:
Perform routine cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, trash removal, restroom sanitation, window washing, and vacuuming. Ensure all areas are cleaned according to YMCA standards. -
Inspect Facilities:
Conduct regular inspections of building areas to identify areas needing attention, including potential safety hazards. Ensure that any maintenance or repairs are reported and addressed promptly. -
Inventory Management:
Maintain an inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment. Order necessary supplies and ensure proper storage and handling. -
Safety and Compliance:
Follow and enforce safety procedures for both custodial staff and YMCA members. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in cleaning tasks and handling chemicals. -
Team Collaboration:
Work collaboratively with other departments to address custodial needs, including assisting with special events or facility changes. -
Customer Service:
Interact with members, staff, and guests in a courteous and professional manner. Provide assistance with facility-related requests as needed. -
Training & Development:
Provide ongoing training to custodial staff on best practices, equipment usage, and safety protocols. Encourage team development and promote a positive work environment. -
Event Setup & Breakdown:
Assist with event preparations, setting up spaces for special programs, and breaking down after events. -
General Maintenance:
Assist with minor repairs and maintenance tasks, including changing light bulbs, maintaining equipment, and reporting significant issues to management.

- QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: High School diploma or equivalent required; additional training or certifications in custodial services or facilities management preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in custodial or janitorial services, with at least 1 year of supervisory experience.
