Part Time Front Desk Assistant

POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Youth Development Office Manager, the Front Desk Assistant will assist in supporting the basic day to day and general building operations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Assist with directing communication with families and Mitchell personnel based on their needs.

2. Performs administrative tasks to ensure existing state license regulations are maintained.

3. Maintains ongoing communications to ensure classroom teachers and current families are well informed.

4. Attends mandatory meetings and trainings sessions.

5. Communicates to directors any suggestions, concerns, or incidents for follow up.

6. Is friendly and courteous to children, families, fellow staff members, volunteers, and guests.

7. Provides excellent customer service

8. Upholds guidelines as outlined in the Employee Handbook of the Association.

9. Follows all Mitchell Center employee rules, dress code, policies and guidelines.

10. Carries out other duties as assigned by Directors.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High school diploma or GED required. A minimum of a 2-year Early Childhood Degree or equivalent experience is preferred.

2. Two (2) years of experience in appropriate administration support functions.

3. Knowledge of Indiana Rules for Licensing Child Care Centers, NAEYC Accreditation, Paths to Quality initiative preferred.

4. Knowledge of Daxko or child care software preferred.

5. Minimum age of 21

6. Requirements include completion of: Child Abuse Prevention; CPR; First Aid; AED; Blood borne Pathogens, physical, Drug Screen, and a variety of youth development trainings

7. Maintain a minimum of 20 hours of professional development yearly.

8. Computer skills needed, particularly with Microsoft Office, excel, and email applications, along with ability to learn the internal YMCA software.

9. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The employee is regularly required to sit, stand and walk for long periods of time, to talk and hear, to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, to climb or balance, to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, occasional bending, reaching or squatting. The incumbent is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Also required is frequent hearing and talking, in person and on the telephone. Time is spent both indoors and outdoors. The condition of the air is normal/average air conditioned/ventilated. The noise level is normal to loud within an active YMCA program environment. Must have passed a physical examination conducted within the past 12 months prior to beginnning work.
