The Regional Director I is responsible for the oversite of all program operations within the designated region and/or county. This senior leadership position oversees the management of programs, facilities, staff development, financial management and collaboration with community agencies in meeting the needs of region’s constituents and program participants. In addition, the Regional Director is responsible for planning, development, operation, and implementation of safe, high-quality experiences for all who participate in programs, services, and other activities. The Regional Director ensures promotion, retention, engagement and marketing for YMCA programs and services within the defined region. This position directly supervises multiple directors who oversee the following areas: After School Programs, Early Childhood Education, and Seasonal Programs (Summer Day Camp and Winter Ski Program).

- Ensures programs and services meet community needs to include supervising existing program activities, establishing new program activities, and expanding the program within the community as needed.
- Leads a team of high performing program directors in creating outstanding growth experiences for youth and families across a diverse range of programming and geographic areas including, early childhood education, afterschool programs and summer day camps.
- Ensures compliance with all regulatory licensing standards including but not limited to Department of Education, Department of Health Services and all YMCA of Northern Utah policies and procedures.
- Creates, develops, implements, and manages high quality, mission focused programs that meet the needs of the community. Ensure quality program delivery and effective use of resources including staff, volunteers, and equipment within established budget to meet financial targets.
- Creates strategic growth strategies that reflect the needs and assets of the target communities with a focus on sustainable expansion.
- Oversee annual budget development ($2 Million plus) and ongoing budget management and review for all departments, providing department directors with the guidance and tools they need to successfully plan and meet revenue and spending goals.
- Oversee grant fidelity for assigned region including data collection, appropriate distribution of funds, and ensuring all reporting deadlines are met. Provides accurate and current information regarding past and future financial performance of region to staff as needed.
- Directs staff and volunteers in the development of program and participant enrollment strategies, including public relations and marketing efforts, resulting in enrollment and quality targets being achieved.
- Develops and implements a comprehensive staff development plan that focuses on staff satisfaction and continuous quality improvement. Ensure staffing complies with regulatory requirements. Responsible for ensuring ongoing feedback and corrective action to all program staff.
- Prepares statistical, analytical, and narrative reports regarding programs as needed; Makes critical decisions based on analysis of data.
- Administers program budget, materials, communication, marketing, and promotion to ensure optimum enrollments, in partnership with association marketing team.
- Serves as a community leader building and maintaining positive relationships with community partners. Collaborate with community partners to advance the Y’s mission and goals.
- Participates in securing resources and support for all philanthropic endeavors; Effectively communicates the benefits and impact of the Y’s efforts for all stakeholders.
- Inspects program sites quarterly for proper supervision, safety, cleanliness, and compliance with program requirements.
- Directs all aspects of safety related to staffing, equipment, environment, and behavior. Know and train on the use of incident reports, emergency procedures, stocked first aid kits, etc.
- Holds meetings with core staff to communicate program successes and shortcomings and to develop plans to address the identified needs.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Minimum of 5 years of management experience in childcare field overseeing multiple sites or programs. YMCA experience a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Child Development or equivalent preferred.
- Experience with budgetary responsibilities of $900K or more with a proven record of accomplishment in fiscal and/or program fiscal responsibility and sound financial management skills to determine pricing, margins, forecasting and trends.
- Experience in staff supervision, community relationship building and in providing leadership to groups.
- Ability to recruit, train, schedule, supervise and motivate staff.
- Knowledge of licensing and risk management standards in regards to childcare; experience with Creative Curriculum and Teaching Strategies a plus.
- Experience creating, implementing, and facilitating organizational change.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills. Detail-oriented with problem solving skills.
- Demonstrated experience setting and managing priorities.
- Exhibit strong leadership skills; possess a passion for service, building and maintaining a culture of excellence.
- Must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule to fill in for licensing ratio requirements as needed on occasion.

- Computer proficiency in word processing, research, and Strong knowledge of Excel and ability to work within spreadsheets, databases, CRM’s and payroll systems.
