What are the responsibilities and job description for the Reserve Ready Program Counselor position at YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties?
The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking a Reserve Ready Program Counselor to join our team.

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading non-profit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
As a Reserve Ready Program Counselor, you will get to know a small group of children and supervise them through a range of fun activities such as swimming, playing games, participating in sports, and learning arts and crafts all while keeping them engaged and safe.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, lead, and assist group activities, transitions, time fillers, and songs.
- Complete group head counts.
- Provide parent communication through parent communication cards.
- Complete accident and incident reports when necessary.
- Cleaning and sanitation protocols will be required of all staff.
Qualifications:
- Six months or more of related experience (preferred).
- Positive attitude and previous experience with children and diverse populations
- Knowledge and skills in day camp program activities and related equipment set-up, and the ability to instruct participants in age-appropriate techniques.
- Must be able to pass Background and Reference checks (in accordance with the WA State Fair Chance Act).
- You are committed to valuing and promoting diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
- Able and willing to complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on the first day, and other online and in-person training as required
Wage: $17.50 to $18.50 per hour, depending on qualifications
Hours: Part-Time, Up to 20 hours per month
Location: Lakewood Family YMCA, Lakewood, WA
Schedule Details: 5:00AM – 6:00PM first weekend of every month
