Position Summary:
The Accounting Intern will have the opportunity to gain practical experience and contribute to the accounting team efforts of the YMCA of Snohomish County. Working closely with the accounting team, the Accounting Intern will collaborate with the team to review and record entries to support financial statement creation and analysis, record and review Accounts Payable items, and assist in other projects and responsibilities as necessary to support the regular processes of the team. The intern will see first-hand how accounting processes are executed in a non-profit, community-focused organization.
Essential Functions:
- Support the month-end financial closing process through learning and reviewing entries
- Assist in documenting and reviewing processes and procedures
- Provide support in coding and reviewing AP transactions
- Assist in Accounts Payable processes, including invoice review and approvals
- Assist in general ledger account clean up in receivables and payables
- Learn and work in a CRM system and accounting software.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a degree program in accounting or business administration
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong personal computer skills and experience with standard business software, especially excel and other Microsoft applications
- Ability to exercise sensitivity in dealing with individuals of diverse socio-economic backgrounds, cognitive and physical abilities as well as individuals of diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
