POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of YMCA of Southwest Florida, the leading nonprofit in our region, committed to strengthening community and making a positive impact on others. Vice President of Operations currently serves the northern region our service area which includes Bradenton, Lakewood Ranch, Sarasota City and Palmer Ranch Branches in four locations, as well as youth and outreach programs in the surrounding community. This individual is part of a passionate team of leaders, dedicated to our cause and expanding services in our community where they are needed most. The VP of Operations will advance the mission of the YMCA, serve as a trusted member of the Leadership Team, and create a sense of connection among their staff and volunteers that comes from working together to do good.
Requirements
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- In partnership with the branch leader, the VP of Ops advances the development of diverse Branch Community Boards that actively support the Y’s goals and strategic plans.
- Drives the financial development activities of assigned branches and core programming area(s).
- Represents and promotes the YMCA in the local community and develops and expands relationships with other organizations, businesses, and governmental entities.
- Identifies, models, and expands collaborative relationships with community agencies in assigned service delivery areas.
- Supports branch leadership with the selection, training, and development of a highly effective branch team.
- Monitors assigned branch operating budgets to ensure alignment to meet or exceed budget targets.
- Ensures the branch's strategic planning efforts are aligned with association goals and implements the annual operating plan for the region.
- Ensures accountability in assigned locations from leadership teams and provides appropriate direction as needed and follow-up.
- Serves as an Association Lead to direct assigned initiatives.
- Supports branch leaders in ensuring a successful annual campaign.
- Drives association member engagement strategies and models relationship-building skills in all interactions with staff, volunteers, members, and the community.
- Fosters a climate of innovation and positive culture that supports the Y mission, goals, and strategies.
- Ensures the safety and maintenance of high-quality facilities, grounds, and equipment.
- Directs regional marketing and communication efforts to effectively communicate benefits to the community.
- Serves as a member of YMCA of Southwest Florida’s Executive Cabinet and supports the overall objectives of the YMCA.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in human services, social services, education, business or equivalent preferred.
- Eight or more years of management experience, preferably in a YMCA or other nonprofit agency.
- Ability to direct total operations through volunteer development, supervision of staff, development and monitoring of branch budget, marketing and public relations, and program development.
- Experience in management and development of volunteer involvement; ability to recruit top community leaders.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Proven track record of developing authentic relationships with others.
- Ability to drive Annual Campaign initiatives to reach association goals.
- Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.
- YMCA Multi-Team Leader or Organizational Leader certification preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel throughout the service area as needed.
- CPR and First Aid certifications may be required.
