POSITION SUMMARY :
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The YMCA is looking for an enthusiastic and hands-on Sports Coordinator to support the department in our Olean Branch to ensure the sports department runs efficiently and effectively! As a key member of our Olean Branch Team, you'll be responsible for developing, organizing, and implementing high-quality, youth and adult, sports programs at the Olean YMCA. This role involves coaching, program planning, volunteer coordination, and fostering a safe and inclusive environment that promotes youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
1. Supervise, train, and support sports department, staff, and volunteers, ensuring programs are delivered safely, effectively, and in alignment with YMCA standards and values.
2. Plan, organize, and deliver sports programs that align with the YMCA’s mission and values.
3. Develop and oversee seasonal sports leagues, clinics, and camps for children, teens, adults, and seniors.
4. Evaluate and update programs to ensure quality, safety, and engagement.
5. Provide direct coaching and mentorship to program participants as well as ensure all sports activities promote teamwork, skill development, and sportsmanship.
6. Supervise games, practices, and special events, maintaining a positive and safe environment.
7. Provide ongoing feedback and recognition to volunteers to ensure program success.
8. Maintain accurate program records, including participant registrations, schedules, and evaluations.
9. Manage equipment inventory, ensuring proper maintenance and replacement when needed.
10. Build relationships with parents, participants, and community partners to promote the YMCA’s mission.
11. Act as a liaison between the YMCA and local schools, sports organizations, and other community groups as well as promoting sports programs through marketing and outreach efforts, including social media and community events.
12. Educate families, participants, staff, and volunteers about the Annual Campaign as well as actively participate in Annual Campaign fundraising.
13. Engage the community to support financial assistance programs that enable youth from diverse backgrounds to participate in sports and activities.
14. Monitor program budget, adhere to financial guidelines, evaluate staff performance, and identify opportunities for grants and sponsorships that enhance youth sports programs to help achieve department and branch goals.
15. Serve as the LOD as assigned, providing leadership, support, and ensuring smooth operations during scheduled shifts.
16. Advocates for association-wide practices and is a source for innovative ways to grow the membership experience, membership base, and practices through cleanliness.
17. Completes all job related, supervisory and other trainings as required.
18. Follows YMCA policies and procedures; responds appropriately to emergency situations.
19. Carries out additional responsibilities and assignments deemed necessary by the Executive Director or top leadership.
QUALIFICATIONS :
1. The following training courses are required before beginning work : Child Sexual Abuse Prevention; Managing Your Exposure Bloodborne Pathogens; Preventing Member and Guest Slips, Trips, and Falls; Sexual Harassment Prevention for Employees.
2. Within 90 days of hire : CPR / AED / FA
3. Excellent oral communication skills with a proven track record of developing authentic relationships with others.
