POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Sports Coordinator, the Sports Attendant is responsible for the supervision of the Gym / Playing Field and safety of its participants.
This position also treats everyone with courtesy, respect and consideration; displays integrity; listens actively and genuinely; communicates in a clear and pleasant manner; embraces differences among people; demonstrates an active willingness to learn and grow; accepts constructive criticism; works cooperatively as a team member.
Greets everyone by using names whenever possible; extends thanks whenever appropriate; makes relationship building the number one priority at all times. This position is responsible for ensuring that the mission, purpose, image and core values of the YMCA is conveyed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Responsible for the safety of the children at all times, including being able to implement emergency procedures.
2. Interact positively with the children, displaying the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility in all program activities.
3. Ensure energizing, fun, safe, and fair play at all times, refraining from intense play yourself.
4. Build effective relationships with members; help members connect with each other and the YMCA.
5. Assist with keeping gymnasiums clean, putting away equipment at end of shift and keeping equipment closet neat and organized.
6. Complete and turn in accident/incident reports immediately to supervisor.
7. Attend staff meetings.
8. Work as a team with staff.
9. Carry out additional assignments and responsibilities as directed by supervisor.
10. This job description may not be all-inclusive and duties may be modified when deemed appropriate by the CEO. Employees are expected to perform all other duties as assigned and directed by the CEO.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. One to two years related experience working with youth or children preferred.
2. Effective motivation, management and training skills.
3. The ability to successfully perform job functions independently of daily supervision.
4. Ability to meet deadlines and work on multiple priorities.
5. Ability to solve problems proactively and respond to parent/member feedback in a timely manner.
7. Must be proficient with MS office programs.
8. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal, written, presentation, and facilitation.)
