Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and at least one year experience with children’s services preferred.
OR
High School Diploma plus two years youth/community experience required.

- 3 weeks of paid time off your first year.

Full Job Description
Title: Youth Mentor
POSITION SUMMARY: Performs community contact work on simpler aspects of programs or cases and assists in providing services to youth and family members, under close and regular supervision and tutorage of Social Worker.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
1. Teaches through coaching/modeling pro-social decision making skills.
2. Maintains a predicative relationship for child over time.
3. Provides socialization and connectiveness to children by facilitating life skill experiences; leads to the mastery of independence.
4. Connects youth to community activities/recreational supports. Fosters resiliency in youth by utilizing a strength based focus.
5. Responds to crisis as a support system and as a teachable opportunity.
6. Provides services in the absence of the social worker due to vacations, etc.
7. Takes a learning stance relative to professional development, including utilizing supervision and training.
8. Serves as a liaison and ambassador for the agency in the community.
9. Participates in and provides parent training and group work as needed.
10. Attends case related conferences and meetings. Provides case related documentation.
11. Maintains Therapeutic Crisis Intervention Certification and First Aid/CPR training as provided by Agency.
12. Attends all mandatory in-service training and regularly attends supervision meetings. Attends other training and in-services as needed to maintain a level of expertise in the field.
13. Performs additional duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.
