Qualifications
- Associate’s degree or higher in communications, business management or organizational leadership or equivalent experience
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in volunteer management, staff or program management; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Strong and proven event and project planning skills
- YMCA or non-profit experience as a staff member or volunteer preferred
- Proficient computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment including Word, Excel and skills in database management and record keeping
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in an independent and collaborative team culture
- Ability to travel within The Granite YMCA service area on a regular basis
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Create a strategic plan for volunteer engagement to expand impact across the organization
- Create/maintain partnerships with internal and external stakeholders
- Publish updated lists of volunteer opportunities using various media outlets
- Source and recruit volunteers through various avenues, ensuring a match of volunteer interests and talents with the needs of YMCA members and programs
- Manage volunteer inquiries, conduct initial screens and references, and support volunteer onboarding
- Work with Philanthropy Dept. to build corporate funding relationships in support of the Y’s mission and strategic initiatives
- Maintain volunteer information database, track and administer volunteer position placement
- Track volunteer hours and submit for YMCA annual reports
- Develop and execute an ongoing volunteer recognition program
- Prepare monthly volunteer reports and updates
- Support monthly volunteer committee meetings
