About the Role
As a Waterfront Operations Manager, you will be responsible for creating a safe and enjoyable environment for our members and guests. This includes supervising staff, conducting regular inspections, and developing and implementing operational procedures. You will also be responsible for coordinating waterfront programs and events, such as kayak rentals and paddleboard lessons.
Key Responsibilities
* Supervise staff and ensure they are adequately trained and equipped to respond to emergencies
* Conduct regular inspections of waterfront facilities and equipment
* Develop and implement operational procedures to ensure safe and efficient operation of waterfront facilities
* Coordinate waterfront programs and events, such as kayak rentals and paddleboard lessons
* Collaborate with other departments to ensure a cohesive and effective waterfront operations team
Requirements
* Minimum age of 16
* Current nationally accredited lifeguard certification (applicable for body of water being guarded)
* Certification required within 45 days of hire: Oxygen Administration
* Physically perform all skills required of a camp lifeguard
* Ability to learn basic watercraft skills such as carrying and paddling
* Hear noises and distress signals in the aquatic environment, including in the water and anywhere in the zone of responsibility, with or without reasonable accommodations
* See and observe all sections of an assigned zone of responsibility, with or without reasonable accommodations
* Demonstrated ability to recognize swimmers and paddlers in need of assistance
* Demonstrated ability to recognize, respond and remedy unsafe situations
* Ability to communicate with all ages and levels of swimmers
* Ability to work with diverse populations and ages
* Dedicated to member safety and the mission and philosophy of the YMCA
