Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Health Promotion, or a related field
- Minimum of 7 years of leadership experience in wellness programming, preferably in a YMCA or similar organization
- Proven ability to manage large-scale programs, staff teams, and budgets
- Certifications in Personal Training (e.g., NASM, ACSM, ACE) and Group Exercise Instruction preferred
- Strong skills in conflict resolution, team leadership, and performance improvement
- Track record of driving member engagement and retention initiatives
Leadership and Strategic Oversight:
- Provide vision and leadership to the wellness department, ensuring alignment with the YMCA's mission and strategic goals
- Oversee the development, delivery, and evaluation of fitness and wellness programs, including personal training, small group training, group exercise, and active older adult programs
- Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate all wellness department staff, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
- Oversee the maintenance and operation of the wellness center, ensuring safety, cleanliness, and proper functioning of equipment
