POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Membership Director, the Y-Attendant is primarily responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the facility, enforcing policies, and ensuring the safety and well-being of all members, guests, and staff at the YMCA. In addition to these duties, the Y-Attendant will also assist with tasks similar to those of Membership Representatives, such as providing tours, welcoming guests, and supporting front desk operations.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Enforce YMCA policies and guidelines in the gymnasium, fitness center, walking/running track, tween room, sauna, and other areas in a professional manner.
- Supervise "open play" situations in the gym, ensuring a safe environment for youth and adults.
- Perform routine housekeeping tasks, such as cleaning restrooms, showers, floors, windows, vacuuming, sweeping, dusting, setting up rooms, and removing trash. Light parking lot clean-up may also be required.
- Conduct fitness orientations for members.
- Monitor all facility activities by making regular rounds in program areas, locker rooms, and hallways.
- Follow YMCA policies and procedures, including emergency response and night closing protocols.
- Attend all staff meetings as required.
- Complete facility checklists during each shift and report any facility needs or program concerns.
SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist Membership Services staff in providing tours and welcoming new members and guests.
- Engage with members and potential members, supporting them in a welcoming manner.
- Support front desk operations, including helping with membership processes and addressing member inquiries.
- Help ensure accurate member information is maintained in the system when needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to work independently and communicate effectively.
- Working knowledge of YMCA programs is preferred.
- Certifications in CPR, AED, First Aid, Safety & Risk within 60 days of hire.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to walk, stand, bend, reach, and lift while performing physical aspects of the job.
- Ability to respond to emergencies according to YMCA protocols.
