We're seeking a passionate and skilled Aquatics Director / Swim Coach to lead our swim programs and oversee pool operations. At the YMCA, we’re more than just a fitness center; we're a community dedicated to youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
Job Summary
The Aquatics Director / Swim Coach will be responsible for managing all aquatic activities at one or more of our YMCA centers, including :
Ensuring safety and compliance with all aquatic standards
Comprehensive pool operations and maintenance
Effective lifeguarding and team management training
Efficient pool operations and maintenance
Key Responsibilities
Manage and schedule aquatics personnel
Ensure compliance with YMCA guidelines, ARC, CPR, First Aid and other required areas.
Conduct lifeguard certification and recertification training
Develop the swim team program through quality instruction and relationship building.
Mentor assistant coaches and volunteers
Develop and monitor annual aquatics department budgets, meeting revenue and expense goals.
Address and resolve basic pool maintenance issues.
Conduct staff training and performance evaluations
Provide on-deck coaching and support
Schedule and conduct swim team practices
Support YMCA fundraising activities and special events
Attend all practices / local meets
Conduct routine maintenance, maintain chemical balance, and oversee facility upkeep.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in related field (preferred)
Minimum 2 years experience in aquatics program management
Current certifications or ability to obtain within 30 days
Certifications Required :
Lifeguard certification
CPR / AED
First Aid
Certified Pool Operation (CPO)
WSIT certification
Physical Requirements :
Able to lift up to 25 pounds
Comfortable working in outdoor environments ranging from 80-90 degrees for periods of 20-60 minutes
Capable of climbing ladders and performing physical tasks around the pool
Ability to hear and respond to distress signals in aquatic environments.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include the ability to see close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust.
Schedule : Full-Time role requiring flexibility.
Monday-Friday, 8 : 00 AM - 6 : 00 PM
Additional evening and weekend shifts as needed
