SUMMARY
The Warehouse Supervisor for our Receiving Department in Akron, Ohio will assist the Warehouse Manager with leading warehouse related processes and procedures within the Akron, Ohio distribution center of Yokohama TWS.
The schedule for this position is normally Monday-Friday. Some irregular hours and weekends will be required based on business needs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Enforce and abide by all safety, service, and quality requirements.
- Actively and efficiently lead all warehouse daily operations involving shipping and / or receiving materials.
- Assist Warehouse Manager with performance of warehouse for inventory accuracy, on time shipment, and shipment accuracy.
- Ability to prioritize and assign tasks to maximize efficiency of the department.
- Communicates with supervisor directly to review and resolve warehouse discrepancies.
- Ensures accuracy of product being received from manufacturing plants
- Works with team to ensures product is being received and stored in correct locations.
- Ensures correct product is pulled for orders and ships timely to appropriate customer.
- Safely operates both sit down and stand-up style forklifts.
- Safely operates shrink-wrap machine and other material handling equipment as needed.
- Maintain appearance, organization, and safety of the warehouse.
- Inspect equipment, tools, and machinery regularly, and oversee general maintenance when necessary.
- Support physical inventory and cycle counting processes.
- Completes all duties and projects assigned in a timely manner.
- All other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Proficiency in use of MS Access, Excel, Power Point, and Word.
- Excellent verbal and written communicator.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Must be well organized and pay close attention to detail.
- Familiarity with operation of material handling, tire presses, and production equipment.
- MRP, WMS and TMS experience helpful along with the ability to quickly learn various company programs.
EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in warehouse, logistics or manufacturing environment.
- Must have experience with shipping, receiving, and pulling orders.
- Experience with sit-down and stand-up type forklifts, as well as other warehousing equipment is a must.
- Previous industry tire experience preferred.
SUPERVISORY SKILLS
- Responsible for utilizing the company’s time keeping system to monitor employees working hours and approve timesheets by deadlines set forth by HR.
- Responsible for accurately tracking and monitoring employees time off while maintaining and adequate workforce.
- Evaluate employee performance including attendance tracking, workload capacity, quality, accuracy, and safety.
- Provide continuous feedback on employee’s performance throughout the year as well as conduct yearly performance evaluations.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals in English.
- Ability to communicate clearly and accurately in English in writing or verbally to co-workers, supervisors, customers, and suppliers in person, email, or via telephone.
- Secondary language skills preferred, but not required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIORNMENT
- Must be able to safely lift up to 75 pounds.
- Work environment will include office and warehouse settings.
