Description
Typical duties include:
- Performs a variety of specialized and complex duties in the preparation of payroll transactions and reporting for employees; receives and audits payroll documents for completeness, accuracy and conformance with policies and procedures; processes and evaluates the accuracy of a variety of payroll-related forms and applications.
- Provides consultation concerning payroll processes, policies and procedures for employees and departmental human resource liaisons; responds to inquiries, resolves issues and conflicts and provides technical information concerning calculations, pay rates, taxes, wage garnishments, and leaves; provides documentation, forms or applications.
- Compiles information and prepares and maintains a variety of records and reports related to employee information, time sheets, pay rates, salary adjustments, voluntary pay deductions or changes, disability, workers compensation, or benefits.
- Prepares and processes a variety of required tax forms; performs periodic tax procedures and related payroll reconciliation functions; and prepares and distributes mandated tax reports.
- Researches and provides current and past payroll information in response to employee inquiries, subpoenas, workers compensation claims, and inquiries from State and County agencies according to established guidelines; provides employment and wage verification for court orders from County and State agencies.

- Experienced in payroll and personnel transactions processing, preferably within a government or unionized environment.
- Comfortable in a fast-paced, detail-oriented position serving the County of Yolo employees and departments.
- A positive, customer focused, self-directed employee that enjoys working closely with a variety of stakeholders to meet the needs of the organization.
Skilled in computer applications with a quick ability to learn a new payroll system and processes.

Substitution: Completion of college coursework may substitute for up to two (2) years of the non-payroll experience, on the basis that thirty (30) semester unit or forty-five (45) quarter units is equivalent to one (1) year of experience.
