The Yolo Food Bank was established in 1970. From the beginning, our dedicated staff and Board of Directors have made it our mission to fight hunger in Yolo County. We partner with communities and other non-profits to distribute healthy food to our neighbors in need.
POSITION SUMMARY
This position reports directly to the Programs Manager. Working collaboratively within a team environment, this position has the responsibility of supporting the coordination of the community food distribution events, engaging with volunteers and serving as an advocate for the food recipients in our community by ensuring that food is being distributed safely and equitably.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate food distribution events
a. Assist in planning, development and implementation of community food distribution programs to designated populations.
b. Maintain positive relationships with partner organizations that host food distribution programs.
- Ensure program distribution goals are met safely, efficiently and effectively by following standard operating procedures.
- Attend food distribution events frequently to provide on-site support and visibility; to ensure food is being distributed safely and equitably; and to monitor food recipient/volunteer satisfaction.
- Work closely with Volunteer Program Manager (VPM) and Volunteer Engagement Coordinator (VEC) to coordinate and evaluate volunteer support.
- Work collaboratively with VPM to provide volunteer leads with distribution training and best practices.
- Collect and input data from required sources for use in progress reports to grants manager, partners, and the community.
- Serve as back-up distribution site lead and assists in food delivery program as needed.
- Coordinate and communicate logistical changes with internal departments.
- Resolve any conflicts with food recipients at food distribution sites.
- Ensure information at food distribution events is accurate and that volunteers/food recipients have the resources they need.
- Coordinate resources, education and program activities:
- Create and implement resources, education materials and program activities for designated populations within the community to be conducted during distribution events or incorporated into food delivery programs.
- Collaborate with Development/Communications department when developing marketing materials, social media, or participation in events.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Strong work and team ethic.
- Able to work and communicate effectively with a diverse community of staff, peers, volunteers, and food recipients. Communicate instructions clearly.
- Bi-lingual in Spanish, Mandarin, or Russian highly preferred.
- Able to be proactive and successfully manage multiple priorities independently in a timely and organized manner.
- Proficient written and oral communication skills.
- Proficient Math skills.
- Proficient in learning and using electronic systems and/or databases.
- Able to operate equipment safely and efficiently in warehouse operations.
- Able to adhere to health and safety practices.
- Able to prepare and maintain accurate records.
- Able to operate a pallet jack.
- Forklift certified/experience preferred.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES
1. Current California driver’s license and evidence of insurability.
2. Obtain Food Handler Card within 30 days of work start date.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Salary range is $24.00-$28.00 per hour, plus benefits including, 3 weeks Paid Time Off, Paid holidays, medical, dental and vision, 403(b) retirement plan match, Flexible Spending Accounts, employer paid life insurance, Employee Assistance Program and $100.00/year YFB clothing allowance.
