Description : SUMMARY
As a key ambassador for YoloCares, the Volunteer Manager will function as a public liaison to community and civic organizations, churches and synagogues, and other community groups in order to recruit and train volunteers and educate the public about Yolo Hospice. In this role, he / she will be responsible for coordination and supervision of the services provided by all volunteers including patient-care volunteers and CWC volunteers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
VOLUNTEER SERVICES
1. Serve as one of YoloCares pivotal relationship manager by successfully implementing strategies to recruit, train, orient, and supervise volunteers.
2. Oversees the Volunteer Coordinator for CWC volunteers.
3. Coordinates with all YoloCares Departments on volunteer needs and placement.
4. Assigns patient care volunteers to hospice and palliative patients / families and monitors interactions, services, documentation, and other components of volunteer activity.
5. Collaborates with the Senior Peer Counsellor Coordinator for operations and volunteer onboarding.
6. Assures that each patient care volunteer’s activities are provided in accordance with the patient’s individualized Interdisciplinary (IDT) Plan of Care.
7. Provides guidance and support to volunteers on any identified performance issues throughout the year including on-going education, and recognition.
8. Works with Human Resources to ensure compliance of background checks, immunization and other related policies and procedures related placement and orientation.
9. Conduct on-going community education and serve as a lead spokesperson for YoloCares.
10. Collaborates with the Leadership Team or other team members within YoloCares to review and revise policies and procedures as required for the volunteer component of YoloCares.
11. Generates monthly reports of volunteer hours worked and related cost savings.
12. Ensures that all patient care volunteers understand and comply with the YoloCares Integrity Program. Counsels and disciplines volunteers who have, or may have, breached any standards contained in this program as currently published by the Board of Directors.
13. Responsible for maintaining Joint Commission Accreditation for YoloCares volunteer department.
YOLOCARES PROGRAMS / INTERDISCIPLINARY TEAM / COMMUNICATION
1. Attends weekly IDT meetings and actively participates in discussions and collaborates with team related to patient care.
2. Works in coordination with other members of the Hospice and Palliative IDT in determining the assignment of clinical volunteers and the monitoring of on-going volunteer services.
3. Assures that required volunteer documentation is completed correctly and returned to the clinical office within required time frames.
4. Maintains regular and consistent interaction between volunteers and IDT members to motivate volunteers and foster teamwork among all IDT members.
5. Secures volunteers for all departments to support the strategic mission of YoloCares.
DOCUMENTATION RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Charts in the patient record as required and appropriate.
2. Reviews patient care volunteer forms / notes from volunteers and assures that they are completed correctly and turned in within required time frames.
3. Participates in Performance Improvement activities on regular basis.

PROFESSIONAL & TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE DEVELOPMENT
1. Attends in-service provided by YoloCares to enhance knowledge of hospice and palliative care. Provides Director of Community Programs with feedback concerning timely topics for education and discussion.
2. Identifies personal education needs and seeks formal programs or participates in professional educational activities or seeks other avenues (i.e. reading articles / books etc.) to meet these needs.
3. Develops a leadership style, which demonstrates teamwork, constructive time management as well as effective conflict resolution, problem solving and delegation.
4. Participates with colleagues / IDT members in identification and discussion of ethical conflicts, which arise in caring for terminal patients and their families.
5. Participates in professional organizations and networks with other volunteer coordinators.
6. Consistently meet all standards of conduct delineated in the YoloCares Integrity Program.
Requirements :
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
1.Bachelor’s degree. Experience working with and managing volunteers, preferably in the health care setting may be accepted in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree.
2.A minimum of two years' supervisory experience and project management execution.
3.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
4.Excellent organizational skills.
5.Ability to manage and assist in further developing a work group of volunteers.
6.Experience and expertise in group facilitation and participatory training.
7.Computer literacy in Microsoft Word and Excel required.
8.Ability to successfully meet agency background screening requirements.
PHYSICAL & OTHER JOB SPECIFICATIONS
1.Able to hear, speak, read, write, and type well enough to perform required job duties.
2.Able to lift up to 15 pounds without physical problems.
3.If driving on YoloCares business, must have a valid California driver’s license and state-required automobile insurance.
4.Must be willing and able to flex hours to meet occasional appropriate business needs during evenings or weekends.
Salary : $65,000 - $70,000, DOE
Reports to : Director of Community Programs
