York County 9-1-1 invites applications for the position of a Full Time Communications Officer. The Communications Officer plays a critical role in vital communications between the public and emergency services. This employee will be able to work independently in a high-stress environment while receiving and evaluating incoming emergency and administrative requests for emergency services, including but not limited to law enforcement, fire, and emergency medical services (EMS). This employee will triage requests for services and provide guidance and assistance to the public in life-safety situations.
This position may be asked to work scheduled shift at any time of the day and on weekends and holidays.
Compensation: Starting at $23.00/hour.
Education/Qualifications/Skills/Abilities:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Employment contingent on background check.
- Dependable, self-motivated, and team-oriented, with a desire to provide a service to the community.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to adapt to change and working in a high-paced, high-stress environment. Ability to remain calm under pressure.
- High attention to detail and empathy towards customer needs and concerns.
- Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and effectively; relay details accurately; actively listen; think and act quickly.
- Read and interpret geographical spatial data and maps quickly and accurately.
- Provide effective customer service and deal tactfully and courteously with a demanding public.
