Position Overview
As a Client Services Counselor, you'll be the bridge between potential adopters and the animals who need them. Your role will be to provide exceptional customer service while educating the public about adoption, animal care, and responsible guardianship. Whether you're answering questions in person, on the phone, or via email, youll be helping guide families through the adoption process and ensure animals find their best-fit homes. Youll also play a crucial role in shelter operations, including animal intakes, surrenders, and community education, all while upholding our Adopters Welcome philosophy.
This full-time position offers a stable schedule, working Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday from 8 AM to 4 : 30 PM.

Key Responsibilities :
Community Education & Animal Welfare :
Educate the public on responsible pet ownership, animal care, and local pet ordinances.Advocate for animals and educate on the importance of breed-neutral adoption.Help reduce shelter intake by finding creative solutions for pet owners in need.Ensure pets are vaccinated, flea-treated, and processed correctly at intake.Adoptions and Surrenders :
Work closely with adopters to find the perfect match for both pets and people.Guide adopters through the process, offering information on pet care, training, and assimilation into the new home.Conduct meet-and-greets between prospective adopters and animals.Provide ongoing support through follow-up calls and advice, ensuring successful adoptions.Guide community members in need of surrender through the process with empathy and support.Clerical, Administrative, and Animal Care :
Handle adoption paperwork, payments, and data entry with accuracy.Maintain a clean, welcoming environment for guests.Keep track of donations, supplies, and other essential materials.Respond to phone calls, emails, and attend to walk-in customer needs.Provide back-up animal care assistance.Administer vaccinations and topical flea / tick preventatives.What You Bring to the Table :
A passion for animals and a commitment to our mission .Strong customer service skills you should be comfortable working with people from all walks of life and guiding them through sometimes difficult decisions.Empathy and patience able to handle emotional situations with professionalism and care.Experience with animal handling and comfort working with all breeds and sizes of dogs and cats.An ability to handle challenging situations with grace and composure .Education and Experience Requirements :
Required :
High school diploma or equivalent.At least 2 years of customer service experience in a fast-paced environment.1-2 years of personal animal handling experience.Preferred :
Bilingual in English and Spanish.3 years of customer service experience, especially in an animal-related setting.Professional animal handling experience.A proven track record of navigating tough conversations with care.Skills & Abilities :
Affable and approachable with exceptional interpersonal skills.Comfortable handling both animals and customers with professionalism and respect.Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.Ability to work both independently and as part of a team .Willingness to learn and grow within the organization.Physical Requirements :
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.Must be able to independently handle dogs up to 125 pounds.Ability to work both indoors and outdoors, often standing, bending, or squatting for extended periods.Compensation & Benefits :
