Network Engineer II/III *HIRING BONUS

In this critical role, you will work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment to architect, optimize, and troubleshoot all aspects of our County IT network infrastructure. Leveraging your creativity and understanding of networking protocols, VoIP, wireless technologies, and security frameworks, you will design and implement resilient network architectures that will ensure optimum performance and robust security to meet our business needs. You will simultaneously manage multiple projects of varying scales, and coordinate efforts across departments to ensure timely and successful execution. You will impart technical leadership and mentorship to junior staff, shaping our team's growth while driving the County's strategic initiatives. Working under the general supervision of the Chief of IT Infrastructure, you will operate within a 100% on-site work environment, working closely with all Infrastructure team members.Network Engineer II
 

• Minimum of three years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or a related field, or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
• Cisco Certified Network Associate (within six months of hire)
• Experience working with enterprise telecommunications systems
• Working knowledge of the following but not limited to: VLAN, Cisco Wireless, VPNs, Port Channels, Cisco ISE, ACLs, NAT, PAT, QoS, SIP, EIGRP, OSPF, DNS
• Experience with network design and implementation
• Analytical mindset with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex network issues
• Proven ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and handle multiple tasks/projects simultaneously
• Experience utilizing network monitoring tools
• Experience with ASA/FTD Firewall Code 
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for technical documentation and user interaction

 
Network Engineer III 
 

• Minimum of five years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or a related field, or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
• Experience designing, implementing, and troubleshooting complex network architectures for high availability, security, and performance
• Proven proficiency in configuring and managing firewalls, IDS/IPS, and next-generation firewall solutions
• Proven ability to navigate complex technical challenges, demonstrating your analytical thinking and innovative problem-solving
• Proficient with network monitoring and analysis tools such as SolarWinds, ManageEngine, Wireshark, and Snort to detect and investigate network and security incidents
• Familiarity with building and securing cloud-based network infrastructures
• Ability to adapt to evolving technologies and propose innovative solutions to meet business needs
• Impeccable work ethic and unwavering commitment to professionalism, serving as a role model for peers and setting a high standard for quality work
• Proven capacity to manage multiple projects of varying scales, showcasing your ability to balance priorities and drive projects to successful completion
• Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, allowing you to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

• In-depth experience with the design and management of Cisco UC Phone System, including Cisco Expressways and Voice Gateway
• In-depth experience with the design and management of Cisco Wireless Technologies
• In-depth experience with Cisco ISE 
• Experience with Cisco DNA
• Experience supporting virtualized environments such as VMware, Hyper-V, Citrix, etc.
• Experience with Linux/Unix
• Experience and familiarity with Cybersecurity Frameworks
• Experience with Network Security and Penetration Testing Methodologies

Requires an acceptable criminal background investigation, including an acceptable applicant fingerprint check required by the FBI’s Criminal Justice Information Services Security Policy.

Requires a valid Commonwealth of Virginia operator’s license.Must be physically able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment including computers, plotters, printers, copiers, facsimiles etc. Must be able to lift and install a 50 pound computer, and be able to move objects weighing up to 55 pounds as needed.  Must be able to climb ladders and work in ceiling and crawl spaces.
