What are the responsibilities and job description for the Park Interpreter position at York County?
Responsible for interacting with patrons and customers coming to New Quarter Park, in addition to providing clear educational programming to visitors and guests. Our ideal candidate will have experience working with multiple children and adults of varying ages. The incumbent will present program information, prepare material for programs, assist their fellow interpreters with programs, clean up the area used for the program properly, and keep all program material in an organized manner as well as any other duty as assigned.
Must be at least 21 years of age or older.
Minimum of two years of college with a background in education, sociology, biology, ecology, environmental studies, natural science or a related field: or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Requires acceptable criminal background check.
Assist park guests and patrons by sharing information related to York County Parks and Recreation as well as Tourism and Development, regarding upcoming activities and events.
Possession of a current First Aid, CPR, AED Certification preferred.
Bilingual or Certified American Sign Language Interpreter preferred.
Must be physically able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment. Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 5 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Physical demand requirements are those for Medium Work.
