Job Description
Mission /Authority
Represent Financial Services commitment to serve others with integrity and compassion, execute with excellence, and create solutions through collaborative efforts within the department and across departmental lines. This position is responsible for the accounting of Young Lifes international mission units. The International Accountant will assist with related reporting, budgeting and monthly financial analysis. In addition, this position provides continued training and customer service for Young Life international staff.
Essential Duties:
International Accounting

- Contribute daily to the efficient and service-oriented work of the smaller international Accounting team as well as the broader financial services team.
- Provide accounting services and financial analysis for international ministry operations.
- Prepare monthly consolidations of international branch office operations.
- Perform routine analytical reviews of the branch office financial reports.
- Review international accounting processes to ensure standard Young Life accounting practices are properly being followed by international accounting staff.
- Prepare monthly journal entries for international accounting units as assigned.
- Serve as one of the primary points of contact for international-related accounting/finance questions from staff.
- Receive, review, and maintain annual international grant documentation for grants to foreign YL affiliates and similar organizations.
- Work with other International Accounting team members to compile and e-file annual YL FinCEN 114/FBAR Foreign Bank Account Report, and assist YL U.S. staff with filing of individual FinCEN 114/FBARs when deemed necessary.
International Accounting System Training

- Facilitate the international accounting system training program for international branch office staff.
- Perform routine status calls with international staff, until monthly data files are provided each month.
Maintain International Mission (Accounting) Units and Re-leveling

- Open or close mission units as needed (daily or weekly) including areas, staff associates, regions, etc., and accommodate the appropriate structural changes to the accounting system.
- Notify appropriate Service Center staff and/or departments of changes to mission units.
- Maintain appropriate general ledger accounts for international mission units, depending on their type.
- Ensure general ledger balances are correctly allocated for restructured or closed accounting units.
International Budgets

- Maintain and update budget templates in MS Excel
- Participate in annual training conference calls with staff on budget procedures and forms
- Ensure budgets are received, completed correctly, and are uploaded accurately into the Lawson accounting system and/or via the Cash Flow budget tool.
- Serve as one of the primary points of contact for budget related questions from Young Life international staff.
Department-wide Duties

- Perform ACH and positive pay transmission to banking institution.
- Complete Income Processing uploads.
- Upload various field journal entries into the Lawson accounting system.
- Member of the month-end accounting close team.
Projects

- Assist Director of International Accounting with projects as requested.
- Other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions:

- Office environment in Colorado Springs, CO. Open to remote work for the right candidate.
- Periodic international travel.
- Early morning, late evening conference calling with staff in other countries.
Qualifications:
-
- 2-4 years corporate, not-for-profit or public accounting experience preferred.
- Work, or personal, experience within a cross-cultural / international context strongly preferred.
- Linguistic proficiency in a second major world language is a plus, with Spanish strongly preferred.
- A strong call to and passion for Christ-centered kingdom work and the Young Life mission.
- Strong and effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel.
- Thorough knowledge of and experience working with QuickBooks.
- Extreme attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to provide excellent service to stakeholders under the pressure of monthly deadlines and multiple tasks.
Education:
- BS in Accounting or Business Administration with accounting emphasis.
Additional Job Description
The anticipated salary for this position can range from $42,009-$52,575.50 depending on relevant education, experience, and location.
